These grammar and spelling issues bug me as well. You can tell when it's a typo as opposed to someone not knowing the difference between the words. A typo will be a one time mistake, whereas a serious misunderstanding of the meanings of the words will be repeated mistakes.

Something that bugs me like crazy is when I see people writing "women" when they mean to say "woman." I'll see, "Why does this women do this?" And when I read on, they keep typing "women" instead of "woman" throughout the entire post.

Then there is then vs. than. Than is to be used when you're comparing or contrasting something, such as, "My cat is fluffier than your cat." Then is to be used in regard to time, such as, "Then we will go to the bank."

I understand what you mean, and I'm a "spelling nazi" as well, but only in my own language. I know, most people here live in a country where the mother tongue is English, BUT, please do understand English is not the most common and most spoken language in all countries in the world. For example, in my country it's only the fouth language (after our mother tongue Flemish, second French and third German language). I mean, how many languages do you people expect people to speak and spell correctly nowadays, while most of the people with Eniglish as mother tongue only speak just one language?

Someone mentioned earlier about it being like good and bad acting - I like that analogy. Yes, I could understand a play where the actor are wooden and put no emotion into their performance, but it wouldn't make for an enjoyable experience.

Those members that do not have English as a first language will find it more difficult to understand a sentence that is spelled incorrectly, has bad grammar and/or bad or (even no) punctuation.

Yes, it was aimed at those of us who speak English as our native language. I hope that it has acted as a learning tool for those members that have other languages as their native tongue.

And the point about non-English speakers is a very good one. Using the word "brake" when you mean "break" probably confuses the hell out of some guy from Norway, or wherever. It's hard enough for some people to understand English, but then you have people mucking it up with "would of" and the like.
