********** said:No more Rivaldo... he doesn't play for the national team anymore, thank god (cheating bastard) - remember what he did against Turkey? And he spent half of the game rolling on the floor once they had the lead against Belgium and England as well. Even when he played for my wonderful Milan, I hated him.
Now; Brazil are formidable, but it's not ust Roberto Carlos and Ronaldo.
Their best and most influential player is Barca playmaker Ronaldinho. Amazing! Perhaps the best player in the world.
They have Milan's gifted playmaker Kaka. Brilliant!
They have Madrid's new influential tough guy Julio Baptista.
They have Mardid's new wonderkid from Santos, Robinho - look out for him.
They have the Italian league's most fearsome striker (after Sheva) - Inter Milan's Adriano - who is arguably better than Ronaldo.
They have Lyon's gifted hero and free kick maestro Juninho Pernambrucano.
So I would say they are STACKED... the team picks itself. But defensively, they are a bit frail, and this world cup it will be a case of Brazil needing to gel well, and score more than the other team - expect to see some 4-3s and 3-2s on Brazil's world cup trail.
Still I think Holland, Italy, England, Argentina and Germany all have a chance to win it, and who are we to count out France and Portugal?

THEY WON IN BAHRAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
JUSTICE IS DONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
THEY AVENGED UZBECKISTAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And at 34 Dwight Yorke will finally get to play in a World Cup... I wish so much that I could spend a night with the mother of his child, she is so beautiful. But she has fallen for an Australian, with more muscles than BNF and Van Damme put together, and I'm sure he's very happy with the Socceroos penalty shoot out win over Uruguay that means Cahill, Emerton, Kewell, Viduka, Schwarzer and co will also get to play in a World Cup.
Espana are going too (yay) and the Czechs, it looks like, and Switzerland beat Turkey but POOR TURKEY, to be in a group with Greece, Ukraine and Denmark, get a playoff and then go out on away goals, and miss out on a World Cup in the country where more Turkish immigrants live than any other country... Germany 06 would have been like a home World Cup for Turkiye.
Oh well, well done to the Swiss.
TRINIDAD BEAT BAHRAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NO OIL WEALTH IN FOOTBALL!!!

But Substitute players and security(!) of Turkey attacked players from Switzerland after the match. I hope, Turkey will be pubished for this.

Turkey could face World Cup expulsion (November 17, 2005)
"Turkey could be banned from the 2010 World Cup in the wake of the the violent scenes which followed their play-off defeat to Switzerland in Istanbul.
"We will act tough," FIFA president Sepp Blatter said.
"The catalogue of sanctions extends from a simple warning to suspension of the federation, which could mean exclusion from the next international event."
The teams drew 4-4 on aggregate Wednesday, but Switzerland reached next year's World Cup in Germany on away goals.
After the final whistle, objects were thrown onto the pitch and there was scuffle between players in the tunnel on the way to the changing room.
"In the truest sense of the word, fair play was trampled underfoot," Blatter said.
"This is unworthy of football. Football should promote understanding among peoples. This didn't happen here."
Blatter, who is Swiss, said he found it "difficult to speak as a Swiss and as a FIFA president about something that concerns both Switzerland and FIFA. But it's my responsibility."
"If a team that has won cannot celebrate on the pitch and instead have to run off like thieves, then something is wrong," Blatter added.
"Anything can happen - from nothing at all to the suspension of the Turkish federation or even a ban on participation in the next World Cup.
"What disturbs me the most is the lack of respect shown the official Swiss delegation from their arrival until their departure," he said.
Meanwhile, Turkish officials accused Blatter of being biased.
"Blatter's comments were extremely unfortunate," federation vice president Sekip Mosturoglu said.
"This was not a one-sided event.""
Sorry to say that, but I'm glad the Turkish team didn't make it to the World Cup 2006 in Germany.

********** said:We checked it out thoroughly and we feel that FIFA's system, while flawed, worked out generally okay... the only change we would have made would have been to include Holland in the seeds, and put Mexico with the 4th pot (along with their regional rivals US, Costa and T&T, to keep them apart), and then moved Serbia from their own pot into the European pot in the spot vacated by Holland.
But other than that, these groups are perfect... the toughest group possible is Brazil-Holland-Paraguay-USA or that might not be poss (Braz/Para), so I would say England-Holland-Paraguay-USA. The weakest group possible is probably Mexico-Angola-Switzerland-Trinidad - if 2 North Americans are not allowed together then it's Mexico-Angola-Switzerland-Saudi Arabia. That would be one hell of a group (jk).
I am buying tickets for the tournament as soon as the draw is announced. Anyone who wants to go can get tickets for 20 pounds sterling/30 euros/40 dollars. www.fifaworldcup.com
The draw will be shown live at or around 8PM GMT, 9PM CET, in the USA it is live on ESPN2 at 3PM (or it might begin at 3.15pm) on Friday. The wife and I will be watching it in Queens, New York City before heading into Jackson Heights for an Indian meal, in case you care.
