I am not someone who finds reward in their job. I realize I need an income to exist in this society so I accept that I must sell hours of my existence to corporations. That's not what I am talking about here. I do not understand why we are expected to enjoy it. More and more I am hearing that those who experience any kind of success in this world are those who "play the game" and kiss ass and do all that gross nonsense. I just need a dead-end, soul-destroying 50k a year job to keep my head above water until I die. Why is that so difficult?

I wasn't the first to think of this, but since I've heard it it's hard for me to not to agree, and that is roughly, "Elon Musk might be history's greatest example that the idea of meritocracy is a lie."

The guy is just a straight up idiot, and probably always has been. That somebody like Elon and others like him could possibly build so much power and wealth shows just how fucked up and nonsensical our world is.
