Blues win in OT. This is going to be a good series

Backes' goal was pure happenstance (I would have love to have seen what Steen would have done had the pass gone through but the result couldn't have been better) but that's the type of thing that usually happens TO the Blues instead of FOR them so I'll gladly take it. Still, the Blues needed game #1 more urgently than Chicago did so I'm not putting a whole lot of concern behind me at all. Long way to go, we'll see what happens tomorrow night. If you're Chicago, hope for a split and it's back to the United Center. All the pressure is still on St. Louis.

I didn't see it (I was working) but I heard my Wild got their clocks cleaned. Maybe a sweep isn't so crazy a prediction.

For sure. Especially if your team feels the same way you do. Parise being out is tough I admit. Dubnyk isn't playing lights-out like he was last year, the Aeros look like they've lost some of their confidence. Need a win.

In the meantime, would someone please explain to me how the Tarasenko goal should have been disallowed last night? I've seen the replay 100 times and I'll concede the play was very close. However, there is nothing in the video that would provide incontrovertible evidence that the play was offside so how in the hell does that get reversed? No call was made on the ice....looked like a good goal to me. We actually played better last night than we did in game #1 so I'm not deflated but to say that call was questionable is a friggin' understatement. Total game-changer.

Put it in the rearview. On to Chitown for game #3.

His lead skate was in the zone and the second skate was in the air. Had the second skate been on the ice AND on the blue line, it would have been good. That was what I saw.

Yes that's the argument but again.....conclusive enough to overturn? The play was really close. To me, that's a call that's too close to reverse. Had it been called as offside to begin with, no problem. Of course, I'm a Blues fan but still....reverse the roles and venue and I don't think you see that call go against the Hawks at United Center. I think you'd just hear "Chelsea Dagger" drown out any thought of calling it the other way. I think Ken Hitchcock has the right take on it.

"It's always going to seem like it's one-sided. Big deal. Fight through it," Hitchcock said, almost smiling.

"And if we expect to beat Chicago in this series we're going to have to fight through more than just Chicago. They're a hell of a hockey club.

"They've got a lot of information on how to win. There's other elements there that we're going to have to fight through. And we're going to have to find a way to do it. If we expect to beat them, we're going to have to be better in a lot of elements, and know that we're going to get calls that aren't going to go our way."

It is what it is. Time to move on. Game #3 tomorrow should be a good one.

I hear ya. Between my soccer team in England always getting screwed in a particular rivalry game (Spurs @ Chelsea) or the Bruins in Montreal, I have had enough of the homer calls. I have seen that call overturned previously this year so I wasn't shocked by the call.

As a Kings fan I detest the Hawks. I think Keith getting a 1 game suspension as a fucking joke (I KNOW it was 6 games but 5 meaningless reg season games when sitting him was good cuz he got rest was a fucking joke) but the overturned replay goal was a good call. Skate was in the air - he was offsides - good call. And Hawks GWG that survived replay - also a good call

The Blues always have been and always will be PLAYOFF UNDERACHIEVING CHOKING DOGS!!!!!!!!!!

They are a good 82 game tea but come playoff time they go into the fetal position and roll over like the DOGS they are. Almost no one picked them to beat the Hawks which says all ya need to know about this gutless/heartless team. WHEN they get KOd masisve changes will be made - starting with the Coach. Blues are as serious a threat to win the Cup this season as are the Toronto Maple Leaves.

Is this the year San Jose puts it all together? Beating LA twice in Staples is huge. Pavelski, Marlot, Thornton might finally make their run.

The only thing that you espouse with which I can take serious umbrage is that the team is called the Toronto Maple Leafs, not Leaves. Regarding St. Louis, until the team proves that your preconceived notions about them are indeed untrue, I cannot refute the remainder of your diatribe. Yes, I would expect a serious housecleaning if the Blues once again fall flat. Hitchcock and Armey will be out the door in a hurry. Game #3 starts in an hour and a half. We'll see what we get.

In the meantime, I'd be worried about your Kings before throwing rocks at the Blues but hey you're probably the same guy that ties tin cans to cats tails just for laughs. LOL....j/k....

Wild got to win 3 straight now to move along..I don't see that happening..although they have done it in the playoffs before in the past.

Having no Parise and Vanek is just asking too much from some of these AHL guys we have filling in for them...

True but they took a step in the right direction last night. Odds still against them but eerily similar to the first-round series with the Avs back in 2014. True they aren't as deep. I thought Parise is supposed to be back any time now?

Kings? Out. Red Wings? Out. Who will join the list next?

I'm going out on a limb and saying it's the Rangers. 6-2 Pens after 2. Penguins clicking on all cylinders. Geez....they look like a fucking juggernaut right now! Are they really that good or are the Rangers blowing it? Lundquist couldn't catch a cold....beat high to the glove side time-after-time. Still, he got hung out to dry on some odd-man rushes too so it isn't all his fault. Rangers look thunderstruck.

Pittsburgh is the beast of the East so far. Look unstoppable.

I am still trying to figure out what Lundquist is the king of. I think the Pens are that good. The Rangers were a solid team. The Pens, as you said, are firing on all cylinders.

The series between the Blues & Hawks felt like a final. I am delighted for my Blues to finally get this "one-and-done" monkey off our back but to beat the defending Stanley Cup champions in the process? Priceless. I'm more than concerned about a letdown against Dallas because there has been such an infatuation with beating Chicago that we may not be mentally prepared. It was a fantastic series....nothing but respect and admiration for Coach Q and his team. They'll be back, that's for sure. For now, it's on to Dallas!
