Brazil are my favourites for winning it so they should progress from here.

The Dutch defense is pretty weak and they have been guilty of giving away
penalties against weak teams.Brazil have been strong all round and Kaka is
starting to come to form at the right time.

So my prediction will be 3 - 1 to Brazil

The first penalty was a stupid fault from Van der Vaart. The second penalty wasn't even a penalty. But you're right that the defense is not the strongest point.

Holland/Netherlands is simlar to the UK regarding the naming of the country.

For example someone from Scotland for example can say they are from Scotland, The United Kingdom or Great Britain.

What is the difference calling Holland/Netherlans one or the other of the two?

In reality "Holland" is only a part of the Netherlands, namely the two provinces "Nort Holland" and "South Holland". Now people use the two names if they are the same, but there are people from (for example) Limburg who get angry about that.

I always thought they were called the Netherlands because of their elevation below sea level.

I accounted for there being possibly some local etymological reasoning..it previously being swampy, marshy land could be one, it's relationship to Holland another..it relationship to sea level may be another.

But "nether" anything doesn't sound like a good place to be or good thing to have.
