Former Dominatrix Advocates Porn ‘Code Of Conduct’
A former British dominatrix has suggested that politicians should create a porn ‘code of conduct’ to protect performers and viewers from material that could be harmful.
Nichi Hodgson, pictured above, made the suggestion on a BBC Radio programme called Can Porn Be Ethical? which was broadcast last night. People in the UK can listen to the show on BBC iPlayer here.
To be honest, I think the base idea is a sound one. We all want to see performers treated with respect, be allowed to earn a good living from the profession, and ensure they are not being coerced into shooting content that they are not comfortable with.
The idea of such a charter being drawn up by politicians though is insane, as far as I’m concerned. We would entrust a charter to the same politicians who recent outlawed the broadcast and shooting of female ejaculation scenes in this country? Uhh, no.
Really, the responsibility should fall with the industry. Many companies have their own transparent policies that they stick to diligently. But an industry wide pow-wow about the subject is not beyond the realms of organisation and is something that could address this point in a far more level-headed way.
