This is the official COMET COMMA ROAST thread. With yesterdays events I created this roasting thread. This a place where people should feel free to grill me like a hot dog. It was not proper to put it in the political section where more latitude is given as to communication content. Perhaps latitude can be given here.

One member was critical after a couple of airplane threads and another member said he liked them, so it leaves me confused.

I'm Clancy in spirit. I love all things military but never served myself. But I'm not selling insurance either.

You should read Fighter Wing. It really educated me about military aircraft. I almost feel like I could work in PR for Grumman or Lockheed after that.

I'll check it, thanks. Though I like the subject matter he covered, Clancy could be a chore to read at times. He really delved into the minutiae of it all. He REALLY was into this stuff. I now know how to dismantle a derelict nuclear warhead step-by-step thanks to him.

I loved the book and movie The Hunt for Red October. My dad who was a career submariner panned it of course. But what does he know?

My best friend served on the U.S.S. Will Rogers right out of high school. It is scrap metal now.

He told some awesome stories about being on patrol. Said Russian/Soviet subs were easily detectable as their engines were loud compared to American boomers.
