While tump's "kick out all the illegals" platform sounds enticing, even if he gets elected, and even if he tries to push it through, there are huge practical roadblocks which are going to prevent it from getting meaningful implementation. And that's coming from me, someone who is against illegal immigration and actually agrees with tump's hardline stance.
We've talked about the sheer number of illegals, and how many of them are ingrained into society with American born kids, businesses, etc. It will be an administrative, legal and PR nightmare deporting them. You will go into debt paying for all the new enforcement staff and admin. You're also going to see another increase in illegals trying to get into Canada, and I can tell you that Canadian border officials will demand that US border officials beef up their northern border, because all those caught in Canada are just going to be sent back to the US per the Safe Third Country Agreement.
What would have been better is if tump gave a practical deportation plan. Like: I will immediately deport any illegal with a criminal record. Or illegals who only arrived in the past year or so and haven't laid down roots. This would get the target to realistic levels, and also put at ease the people who wouldn't be subject to the removals.
But to expect a rational, realistic and coherent political policy by him? Good luck on that.
