How to upload photos to post?

Do you see both the image icon and the Attach files option?
When I click on the image icon, it opens a like an online link box (http://...). I was expecting to be able to upload a file from my computer or phone. I take it you can't?
And while I have your attention, why can't I edit my own posts? For example I want to mark my posts as solved, but there is no "edit" function when I open the thread. However, when I just responded to you above, I was able to "edit" it and add this comment. So not sure whats going on..

Use attach files. The paper clip on the bottom. The photo with the online link box is for hosted images. Images you upload somewhere else. Attaching will pull it from your hard drive storage. Editing is available for only X amount of time. You have quite awhile, but its not infinite. As the sticky post says in the ID section says, you need to report your post to have a moderator mark it as solved.

What browser are you using? Take a look again, I bet you its working now
Check the file extension. If it is WEBP, those won't work. Xenforo doesn't have the capability to attach those type images, which I think is really stupid.
As a new member, you don't have access to the attach button. Use an image host.
Don't use Imgur. It is the most popular, but has problems. It seems to actually be working (at the moment), but the site owners over there have banned FreeOnes (more than once) due to bandwidth issues.
Don't use ImageBam or ImageVenue. Once upon a time they were the most popular, but have since gotten very spammy and ImageBam suffers from extremely slow load times.
Don't use ImageFlea. This one was my favorite for a long time, but the upload interface stopped working last year.
The ones below are the ones I have used. Each has it's strengths/weaknesses. Pixhost is currently the one I use the most, and FreeImage is the only one I know of that supports WEBP images. You may want to stay away from PICunt. That's a new one that I discovered a few days ago, and I'm still playing with it.

1) save the image on your PC.
2)
3) Upload image to ImgBB
4) copy link and paste in your thread

So since new users lack the ability to post/upload/attach images, how long before that option becomes available to them?

As mentioned before, you're free to host images and link them. Search for an image host and use the code. I've always uploadhouse myself. https://www.uploadhouse.com
