Film Score

Anyone else like or appreciate film score (background music during a movie usually classical or jazz to set the mood NOT PORN...REGULAR MOVIES).

I love film score especially from older black and white movies...some of the best most under appreciated classical music ever is film score IMO.

Yep. Blade Runner; Once Upon A Time in America; many of the Westerns; Psycho; Vertigo; The Birds....many more also.

^^Agree with Taxi Driver: One hell of a film!

incredible how subtle and effective it is- most barely notice it but would be surprised how different a film would be without it. Glad to see someone appreciating it!!!

You know what's funny is listening to it without the movie if you're driving at night or something....it's pretty funny how it can affect your mood while you're driving...almost like visualizing the movie without the effect of seeing it.

I agree with you, plus all of the movies put forward by others have fantastic scores. Just to add another to the list:

The Good, The Bad & The Ugly

Along with everything else Ennio Morricone ever did

its like your mind has already associated those sounds with that mood/emotion ...always thought that it makes sense since we are a bunch of vibrating molecules that vibration would have such an effect on us...

Ace Bandage

The one and only.
Clint Mansell's "Summer Overture" is so poignant and fitting in Requiem for a Dream. That music really gives the sense of desperation that the film is conveying.

Die For Me
I'm not sure of any specific good scores, but after watching the original Dracula which didnt have one at all, It helped me appreciate what a difference it can make

I would say if you've never paid close attention to film score and you're inclined to appreciate music artistry, I would suggest anyone so inclined take the time pay attention to it sometimes and listen to some of the brilliant music some of these Orchestras create all while delivering it according to the scene.

It was a brilliant idea IMO....

How can we ever forget "The Godfather"??? Probably the most recognizable film score in cinematography history along with one previously mentioned, "The Good, The Bad and The Ugly". One of my favorites is when Kubrick decided to use separate classical pieces instead of original film score for "2001: A Space Odyssey" and the classic "Also Sprach Zarathustra".

Eric Serra's score for Leon, aka The Professional is probably my all time favorite.

Star Wars. The music in those movies was perfect!

Star Wars and teh Godfather pretty much set the standard for how a score can compliment a film
