Does anyone else on here think that $29.99 a month for a membership is just a little bit too much?

$29.99 was a viable price point back in the 90's when internet porn was just starting out and there was only a handful of sites with only a "handful" of people in porn. Nowadays tho paying $30/month for porn is just a fail. I think they try to justify the price point by throwing in a shit ton of sites (get access to like 20+ sites for the price of 1), but how often are people looking at all 20 of those sites. They give you access to them but the majority of people are probably only actively checking out at the most 5 or 6. All I'll say is, Netflix cheapest package is like $8/month and they're the leading site in movie rental/streaming out right now, and personally speaking now, out of all my friends that have NF subscriptions, I don't know any of them that have any other package other than the $8/month.
For $29.99 a month those sites are probably just trying to attract as many 1 and done subscribers as they possibly can because I do not know anybody who would pay $29.99 to the same site for an entire year.
$29.99 a month is $360 a year.
If I had $360 a year to spare I would subscribe to a different site each month and then cancel.
A site could have hourly updates and I still would not renew after my month is up.

The quality wasn't even good (shitty image), some pictures were just blurry, some videos were posted and then deleted and re-posted (as a part of the 2-3 updates a month of course).
And when I just talked about it on their forum, saying that is was not too nice to do that, I got banned (and insulted if I recall well)

The argument about the sheer mass of more or less legal freebie sites is one aspect, but if you become a subscriber, you become a member, too. At least at high-quality sites, take private.com, for an example. VERY active customer contact, and they absolutely listen to you.
Plus - you do the right thing if you subscribe. You know, all the girls don't actually do it just for kicks, and studios like to pay their rent, too

I don't really consider whether something is "too much" in general terms to be that relevant, I only really consider whether I am prepared to pay for it, in my current financial position and compared to what other content is available at certain other prices. I have no qualms paying for my porn, but not including one-off purchases from clips4sale or similar sites, I've never paid more than an intro / discount / offer price (like £5 a month, $7.77 according to today's Google rate) for any one "studio"/multiple girl site membership, because while I am a big consumer of porn, I simply never feel enough loyalty to hold onto anything longer than simply paying for "whatever's cheap this month." It's a system that allows itself to be exploited in such a manner, so I do so. I only pay £5.49 a month for New Japan World (wrestling fans) and get far more usage out of that than I would a porn site, so I'm not extending to double digits for new content when I could happily rub one out for free to what's on my hard drive for the rest of my life. Purchases made to support individual performers that I like, as and when I can, an acceptable exception.

I've subscribed off and on to a lot of different sites over the years, but I've never had a membership for longer than a couple of months, with the exception of Score, and the reason I've cancelled my subscription has always been because I couldn't justify the ongoing cost versus the value. That's not to say there's no value in membership to porn sites, there certainly is value, just not $29.00/month $300+/year. I might subscribe for six months to a year at under $10/month, but cost would soon outgrow the value even at that price point, well, except for maybe Score, but even still, I'm not currently a Score subscriber so take that for what it's worth.
As a member of Evil Angel, I feel like the sheer amount of high profile content is easily worth $30 per month. Personally, I only pay $15 per month and I feel like I'm getting away with some kind of theft.

I think some of the nude modeling sites with daily picture updates and weekly video updates with a deep back catalogue of content are the only sites worth being near the $30 a month price point.

Anyone who thinks that $29.99 a month is too expensive must be a very young person. Porn was way more expensive in the pre internet days. And it wasnt until the early 2000s that the industry developed the model of unlimited downloads for $29.00 a month and being able to cancel anytime. For me this was like when VHS came out and you were finally able to OWN your favorite mainstream movies, instead of having to go to the movie theater. Now I was able to download an entire porn store into my computer without actually having to go to a porn store!!! for $29.99!! I could now create my own porn star compilation videos!!!
Yeah, maybe its time for the industry to further improve and update its model. For instance, instead of charging you $29.99 a month for thier entire site, maybe brazzerz could charge you $14.99 for only their Lisa Ann stash. Or maybe charge you $10 for five total scenes. But lets not pretend that the industry is acting like the RIAA did in the pre napster days. The industry as a whole actually did a surprisingly good job of adjusting to the reality of the internet.
