There’s an interesting article in The Guardian which talks about the resurgence of erotic literature after a long dip in the industry, more than likely caused by the emergence of internet porn.
Its suggestion that you should put down the porn and read some erotica is daft – the two can complement each other rather nicely. I also think it somewhat misjudges the porn landscape somewhat.
So much of what is being produced these days is very much of that ‘erotica’ style and that’s why those two can work with each other. But it is good to see literature on the rise of this kind.
Perhaps it also has a lot to do with the fact that it’s not a bunch of Mills & Boon crap like my mum used to read when I was a kid….
